Supervision and protection

The organoleptic characteristics of the Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa wines are guaranteed by tasting tests carried out on a weekly basis by a commission of the European Union at the Chamber of Commerce, as well as by the Consortium's technical committee, which meets periodically to taste and evaluate the samples of the various wines when member wineries decide to bottle their products.

The wine samples are completely anonymous to guarantee that the tasters give an unbiased judgement. With this procedure, only the wine that completely responds to the indications set out in the production and quality regulations can be marked "Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa DOC."

The technical committee, composed of enologists designated by the professional associations, including grape growers and wineries, intervenes autonomously whenever a request is made. The committee's duties include providing indications and suggestions for cultivation, soil analyses on the production terrain, and research on new production technologies. All this work is carried out with the aim of improving the quality of the Colli di Scandiano e di Canossa DOC wines, harvest after harvest.
